The restored palace of Philip II at Aigai opened its gates

The largest building of classical Greece, the recently restored and restored palace of Philip II of Macedonia in Aigai, opened its gates to welcome the public on Sunday 7 January 2024. The restored royan palace of Aigai, which covers an area of approx. 15,000 sq.m, has come out of the shadows and reclaimed its status as the site where Alexander was declared king of the Macedonians, shortly after the assassination of his father Philip II.

Golden Globe Award for the film Poor Things by Giorgos Lanthimos

George Lanthimos’ feature film Poor Things won the Golden Globe for Best Comedy or Musical, while its star Emma Stone was awarded the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical. Congratulations!

2023 a record year for Greek airports

2023 was a record year for our country’s airports, with passenger traffic at the Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” reaching an all-time high, while the rest of the airports managed by both the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority and Fraport Greece are also expected to see a record increase in passenger traffic and flights compared to 2022 and 2019.

University of Macedonia student team wins award at 1st Model NATO

The three-member student team of the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Macedonia, which participated in the 1st Model NATO, held in Germany (Model NATO Germany), in early December, received praises and an award. The team, consisting of Aris Aigyptiadis, Konstantina Nikou and Olga Rodatou, won the award in the most challenging committee of the conference, that of the North Atlantic Council, and received very favourable comments from the Organizing Committee and the members of the Presidencies, for their skill and pragmatism in drafting the NATO Communiqué, their excellent knowledge of the rules of procedure, the foreign policy of the country they represented (the United States of America) and of NATO policy in general, as well as their diplomatic skills in dealing with the other participants.
