The European Business Network for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR Europe), a European platform for businesses looking to enhance sustainable growth and positively contribute to society, recently organized the Enterprise 2020 Summit in Brussels (16-17 November), which took place in parallel with the UN COP21 Climate Change Conference and the UN post-2015 development agenda, aiming to influence the business sustainability agenda at international level.

In this 2-day event, more than 500 participants and high-level speakers joined 15 interactive parallel conference sessions, where CSR Hellas participated with two stands (one presenting the educative program “Growing on Ethics” and the second, presenting the work of five leading CSR Hellas members: AIA, Hellenic Petroleum, McCAin Hellas, QualityNet Foundation and TITAN Cement Company SA). On the second day of the event, the President of the European Parliament, Martin Schultz, announced the launch of the “European Pact for Youth“, a partnership initiative between CSR Europe, CSR Hellas and other national partners with the European Commission, aimed at improving the chances for youth employability and inclusion.

A project that drew a very positive feedback among the members of the Summit, was the “Sustainable Greece 2020” initiative, a project by Greek NGO QualityNet Foundation, aimed at creating the necessary tools and methodologies that would support organizations in incorporating practices of sustainable development. Yvonne Zwick, project manager of the German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE), said it “constitutes an example of how a private nongovernmental initiative of a small country with immense financial and social issues, has managed by engaging important actors and organizations as well as by developing particular tools, such as the Sustainability Code, to contribute to the creation of a new model of development and social cohesion”.
