The Chocolate Factory and Museum comes to Athens
Chocolate Factory and Museum opens its gates at the exhibition centre of Helexpo Maroussi in Athens urging the public to yield to the temptation of chocolate from November 07, 2015 to February 21, 2016.
The first chocolate theme park in Greece promises to take visitors on a magical tour to the wonderful world of chocolate: a fantasy land complete with an Aztec temple, a tropical Jungle with real cocoa trees, an Amazon Hut, the laboratories of legendary ION Chocolate and Papadopoulou Biscuits makers, the Kri Kri farm, a Time Machine, the Education Hall, the Choco Art Gallery of chocolate paintings and sculptures (including the Parthenon), the Caramel workshop, and the Sweet Library.
The tour’s highlight is the biggest Chocolate Waterfall in Europe with 1200 litres of real melted chocolate! Visitors will enjoy an unforgettable, experiential, educational and tasty experience as they create, touch and taste the delicious secrets of chocolate!
Mario Merz @ Museum of Cycladic Art
The Cycladic Museum in Athens is hosting an exhibition of works byMario Merz (1925-2003), a leading member of the Arte Povera movement. Entitled “Mario Merz: Numbers are prehistoric”, it concentrates on the artist’s belief that nature is an overriding presence and that its laws, at once brutal and sublime, regulate human activity all the way from issues of survival to social interaction and political action. Presenting material not shown before, the exhibition balances between visual art and written expression, following Merz’s particular way of dealing with key themes in art using lines, numbers and words.
The exhibition comes at a crucial time in Greece when notions of necessity and primary needs are being re-evaluated, providing the opportunity to re-examine essential ideas through the artist’s oeuvre.
The exhibition runs from October 22, 2015 to January 31, 2016.
“Cinesthesia” in Syros
Cinesthesia”, a documentary film and movie festival taking place every winter on the island of Syros, opened its doors on November 1 and will run until April 23, 2016. Performances and works of art are created in public spaces with the participation of artists all over the world, the viewers and the community. Table talks involving new ideas are also held prior to screenings - in places like barber shops, listed buildings, traditional groceries, next to ruins etc.
Cinesthesia is an innovative project which aims to connect Cinema with video art, painting, architecture and experience design, exploring the aesthetic dimensions of social experience.
“Swan Lake” at the Piraeus Municipal Theater
performing the all-time classic “Swan Lake” at the Piraeus Municipal Theater from October 22 to November 10.
