The Greek Pavilion at the 30th Lima International Book Fair (FIL Lima 2026)

On 24 July 2026, the Greek Pavilion at the 30th Lima International Book Fair (FIL Lima 2026) was officially inaugurated in the presence of the President of the Peruvian Book Chamber, Ricardo Murgueza Terrones, representatives of diplomatic missions, members of the literary and artistic communities, and members of the Greek community in Lima.

In his opening remarks, the President of the Peruvian Book Chamber highlighted the significance of Greece's participation in this year's fair, marking the country's first appearance in the event's 30-year history. The Greek delegation, in turn, expressed its gratitude to the Peruvian Book Chamber for providing a platform to promote Greek thought and literature, while emphasizing the enduring cultural ties that have long connected Greece and Peru.

Greece is participating in this year's edition with a national pavilion, organized by the Embassy of Greece to Peru, Colombia and Ecuador, serving as a venue for the presentation and promotion of Greek culture, thought, and literature.

Special reference was also made to the significance of 24 July, the date on which democracy was restored in Greece in 1974, highlighting its connection to human rights and the fundamental values of free access to education and freedom of expression as essential pillars of social progress and peaceful coexistence.

From the very first days of the fair, which runs until 6 August, the Greek Pavilion and the events promoting Greek literature have attracted a large number of visitors. Attendance at this year's fair is expected to reach nearly half a million visitors.
