‘Rendezvous’ you in Thessaloniki for the 88th TΙF
Showcasing an enhanced international character and the Federal Republic of Germany as an honored country, the 88th International Exhibition of Thessaloniki (TIF) will take place from September 7 to 15 at the International Exhibition Center of Thessaloniki.
This year’s TIF will focus on the country’s contemporary challenges and critical sectors of the economy that directly impact the daily lives and well-being of citizens, emphasizing new technological means, innovation, and sustainable development. The program of parallel events honoring the Federal Republic of Germany, will also be rich and varied, hosting numerous B2B and B2C events, as well as a plethora of entertainment and cultural events for the general public.

Ancient Eleutherna Museum exhibition: “Picasso on Crete: Joy of Life”
The Museum of Ancient Eleftherna in Crete is celebrates its 8th birthday this year hosting the periodic exhibition “Picasso in Crete: the joy of life,” which will last until October 20. The 62 works of Pablo Picasso have been “joined” with the permanent exhibits of the Museum of Ancient Eleftherna, and what emerges from that union, according to Picasso’s daughter, Paloma, and Professor Nikos Stampolidis, is the eternal and profound depiction of the joy of life.
Professor Stampolidis, who is responsible for creating the Archaeological Park of Eleutherna and the Museum, said that Paloma Picasso and he selected those pieces of her father’s work where nature, animals and the Mediterranean light danced in harmony with the ancient Greek myths. “We chose the Museum of Ancient Eleftherna as a site for the exhibition, within a magical archaeological space where the ancient breeze still blows and whispers secrets of the joy of life,” he said.

International award for an animated film by primary school children
A film entitled “Elizabethan Theatre” created by twenty students from the 6th Experimental Intercultural Primary School of Eleftherio-Kordelio in Thessaloniki, was declared as the best Film or Animation on the theme of Shakespeare by young directors aged 7-11, by the independent charity organization ‘Shakespeare Birthplace Trust’ and won the “Best Animated Film Award” at the Moscow International Children’s Film Festival. Through historical elements, drawings, sketches, pictures, and colorful dolls, the children depicted the creation of London’s first theaters, how they attracted the interest of the world and what was the context in which William Shakespeare one of the most important playwrights lived and created. Tactile works of art on postcards from 10 Greek museums
Postcards with tactile works of art and a QR code with a description of the work and access to sign language interpretation, were released for the first time in museums in Greece with the aim of inclusion of people with disabilities in the experience of art. This is an initiative of the non-profit company Offstream, which based in Thessaloniki for the last four years. The organization aims to make art more accessible and inclusive to blind, deaf, hard of hearing and visually impaired people through activities and research and production of objects addressed to all individuals.
