Today, we remember the legendary George Bizos—human rights lawyer, anti-apartheid activist, and lifelong defender of justice.

From his daring escape from Nazi-occupied Greece to his pivotal role in defending Nelson Mandela during the Rivonia Trial, Bizos dedicated his life to the pursuit of human dignity and equality.

His legal brilliance saved lives, his courage helped dismantle apartheid, and his legacy continues to inspire generations fighting for justice.

🎹🇬🇷As part of the celebrations of the National Holiday of March 25, 1821, the Embassy of Greece in Egypt Πρεσβεία της Ελλάδος στην Αίγυπτο سفارة اليونان في مصر, in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, the Cairo Opera House and ΕΡΤ, organizes a concert featuring Mikis Theodorakis’ iconic work “Zorbas”, performed by the Εθνική Συμφωνική Ορχήστρα (Ε.Ρ.Τ.) - Greek Radio Symphony Orchestra, accompanied by the A Cappella Choir of the Cairo Opera. The event will take place on Tuesday, April 8, at 20:00 at the Main Stage of the Cairo Opera House on the occasion of the proclamation of 2025 as the year of Miki Theodorakis.

🎻The National Symphony Orchestra ERT, founded in 1938, covers a classical, Greek and international repertoire, having presented works by important Greek and foreign composers and conductors on recordings, live radio and television broadcasts, as well as in concerts throughout the country.
🎤 The A Cappella Choir of the Cairo Opera was founded in 1999 to perform non-operatic works from the established choral repertoire.

The small and now uninhabited island of Keros was on of the major centers of Cycladic civilization; together with the adjacent islet of Dhaskalio they comprise the largest settlement and earliest maritime sanctuary of the Early Bronze Age (2800-2200 BC).

The Keros Project, is dedicated to the in-depth investigation of this precious site, uncovering the secrets of a community that “became the blueprint for the emergence of civilisation in the eastern Mediterranean".
