Fitch Ratings confirmed Greece’s credit rating at BBB+ with a stable outlook

Fitch had upgraded Greece to investment-grade status last November.
In its statement, the agency noted that its assessment is based on Greece’s higher level of per capita income compared with the average of countries rated in the “BBB” category, as well as governance indicators that are slightly above the category average. It also highlighted the country’s credible policy framework, strengthened by its membership in the European Union and the euro area.

“World Beautiful Business Forum 2026”: Olga Kefalogianni Presents Greece’s Vision for More Sustainable, High-Quality and Resilient Tourism
Greece’s strategic vision for a more sustainable, higher-quality and more resilient tourism model was presented by Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni at the international conference “World Beautiful Business Forum 2026.”

The conference is an annual high-level gathering organized by the House of Beautiful Business and is being held in Athens this year from 7–10 May, marking the 10th anniversary of its founding.
The event brings together 1,000 delegates from more than 40 countries, including distinguished speakers from business, technology, politics and the arts, representatives of the academic community, and leaders of international organizations.
In her address, the Minister emphasized that Greece is pursuing a new tourism development model focused on quality, sustainability, and respect for each destination's unique identity.
“The critical question today is not only how many visitors arrive, but what value tourism creates for local communities, the environment, and the travel experience itself,” she noted.
She further stressed that local communities must remain at the center of tourism development, while safeguarding the country’s natural and cultural heritage is of paramount importance.
Referring to the role of technology and artificial intelligence, the Minister underlined that they can serve as valuable tools for managing tourist flows, improving services, and designing more effective policies based on real-time data.
