The newly established Corfu International Festival (CIF) opens its gates in September to welcome visitors to its inaugural season and invite them to discover a multidimensional program that covers a wide range of artistic creation. Driven by an inclusion and diversity philosophy, this multidimensional, multicultural and multifaceted festival aspires to offer a new dimension to what a festival is considered to be given that beyond its content, it will be held all year round, inviting residents and visitors to a variety of original artistic creations that includes music, theatre, dance, literature and visual arts.

With the atmospheric island of Corfu as a background, the festival will host important local and international artists with a programme full of creative contrasts aiming at the representation of a wide artistic network. Ιn the words of the festival’s artistic director, Dionysis Grammenos, “baroque music, opera, historical marches, songs about love, ancient tragedies, dance, moving narratives, electronic music, exhibitions, children’s voices and young talents will unfold all over Corfu stories that speak of ancient myths, heroes, love, ideas of passion and dreams that came true throughout centuries in a fairytale setting”.

Historical monuments and emblematic places, such as the Old Fortress, the center of the Old Town -both UNESCO World Heritage Sites-, the Palace of Saints Michael and George, the Mon Repo Palace, the Municipal Art Gallery and the Ionian Parliament, will revive, reintroduced in novel ways. Corfu will thus turn into an epicenter of contemporary artistic expression, where pioneering ideas are likely to flourish, as well as an all year long meeting point from creators from all over the world, regaining its dynamic presence in the European and international cultural scene.

The Festival is organized by the Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands, under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Ministry of Tourism and the Greek National Tourism Organization, with the valuable support of sponsors, friends and volunteers.
